We are seeking an experienced and skilled Farm Operations Specialist to join our team at St. Soldier Farms Inc.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity for a motivated individual to take on a key role in our farm operations, working closely with our team to ensure the efficient production of high-quality crops.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective plans to prioritize tasks and optimize crop yields.
  • Grade vegetables and fruits into different grades according to size, shape, color, and volume to fetch high prices in the market.
  • Clean and maintain greenhouses to ensure optimal growing conditions.
  • Mix and apply fertilizers as required to promote healthy crop growth.
  • Organize tasks to accomplish work efficiently and effectively.
  • Plant, cultivate, and irrigate crops using best practices and techniques.
  • Conduct regular weeding and pest management activities to prevent damage to crops.
  • Fertilize and spray crops as needed to promote healthy growth and development.
  • HARVEST CROPS IN A TIMELY AND EFFICIENT MANNER TO ENSURE MAXIMUM YIELD AND QUALITY.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and bio-security procedures to protect the health and well-being of people and animals.
  • Maintain accurate financial and production records to inform decision-making and drive business growth.
  • Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide agricultural crop services such as plowing, irrigating, cultivating, spraying, or harvesting as required.
  • Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed at all times.
  • Detect disease and health problems in crops, livestock, and poultry to take prompt action to prevent further damage.
  • Perform general farm duties as required to support the smooth operation of the farm.
  • Assist in grafting activities to promote healthy plant growth and development.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in agriculture or a related field an asset.
  • 1-6 months of experience in farming or a related field; prior experience with greenhouse operations an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina to perform manual labor in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Combination of sitting, standing, walking required to perform job duties.
  • Ability to distinguish between colors essential for visual inspection of crops.
