About the Role

The Financial Project Specialist will play a pivotal role in our team, working closely with internal sales and estimating teams to manage project accounts, devise budgets, and oversee complex billing timelines. They will be responsible for ensuring accurate and complete project-specific documentation, managing project-related records, including contracts and change orders, calculating and recording project-based revenue, cost of sales, and cost of completion, investigating and analyzing project budget variances, monitoring project expenses, tracking billing for significant contracts, investigating unsupported or non-billable project expenses, providing monthly reports regarding project progress, budget variances, revenues, and other metrics, preparing ad hoc reports for senior management and other stakeholders as required, reconciling accounts, allocating revenues and expenses, reviewing monthly accruals, and adjusting coding on invoices, forecasting and monitoring project cash flow, and assisting with the preparation for internal/external audits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with internal sales and estimating teams to manage project accounts and devise budgets
  • Ensure accurate and complete project-specific documentation
  • Manage project-related records, including contracts and change orders
  • Calculate and record project-based revenue, cost of sales, and cost of completion
  • Investigate and analyze project budget variances
  • Monitor project expenses and track billing for significant contracts
  • Investigate unsupported or non-billable project expenses
  • Provide monthly reports regarding project progress, budget variances, revenues, and other metrics
  • Prepare ad hoc reports for senior management and other stakeholders as required
Requirements
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Hold or working towards CPA/CGA/CMA designation
  • 5+ years of progressive, full-cycle accounting experience
  • Project accounting experience in a manufacturing or construction field
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment
  • Strong Excel skills, including V-lookups and pivot tables
