About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Nursing Assistant II, Surgical Day Care Specialist to join our team at BC Women's Hospital + Health Centre. As a key member of our surgical day care team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our procedure rooms and providing exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and position equipment and accessories in procedure rooms, including procedure trays, tables, and suction equipment, to ensure a safe and efficient environment for patients and staff.
- Clean and maintain equipment, instruments, and patient care areas, adhering to established cleaning procedures and protocols.
- Restock procedure rooms with medical and surgical supplies, and clean and store specialized equipment as required.
- Assist with patient care activities, including changing and cleaning beds, emptying and disposing of waste and linen, and reporting any concerns to nurse clinicians.
- Operate related equipment, such as suction machines and pulse oximeters, and maintain accurate records of equipment usage and maintenance.
Requirements
- Grade 12 and successful completion of a Sterile Supply Processing course, plus one year's recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Knowledge of surgical and medical terminology, mathematical aptitude, and ability to communicate effectively with others.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada, and knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities impacting Indigenous communities.
