Nursing Assistant II, Surgical Day Care Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Nursing Assistant II to join our team in Surgical Day Care at BC Women's Hospital + Health Centre. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our clinical staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and position equipment and accessories in the Procedure Rooms, ensuring that all necessary items are available for surgeries.
- Clean and maintain instruments, reporting any missing items to the Nurse Clinician.
- Conduct thorough cleaning of floors, walls, doors, sinks, and furniture, including patient care equipment, following established protocols.
- Change, clean, and remake SDC beds, empty and clean waste containers, and remove garbage from rooms as needed.
- Restock Procedure Rooms with medical and surgical supplies, and clean and store specialized equipment.
Requirements
- Grade 12 and completion of Sterile Supply Processing course, plus one year's recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Knowledge of surgical and medical terminology, mathematical aptitude, and ability to communicate and deal effectively with others.
- Ability to operate related equipment and physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada, as per TRC (2015), and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
- Knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities impacting Indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports.

Location and Hours
4500 Oak Street, Vancouver, BC, V6H 2N9. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Monday to Friday; 0730-1630 or 0800-1600.
As per the current Public Health Order, full vaccination against COVID-19 is a condition of employment with PHSA as of October 26, 2021.
