Key Responsibilities:
- Requisition food and kitchen supplies to maintain a well-stocked kitchen
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of kitchen staff, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently and effectively
- Estimate ingredient and supply requirements for meal preparation, minimizing waste and excess
- Ensure that food and service meet quality control standards, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment
- Maintain accurate records of stock, repairs, sales, and wastage, providing valuable insights for kitchen improvements
- Prepare and submit reports on kitchen performance, highlighting areas for improvement and success
- Establish work schedules for kitchen staff, ensuring adequate coverage and minimizing overtime
Support for Newcomers and Refugees:
- Assist with immediate settlement needs, such as housing, transportation, and storage
- Support social and labour market integration, facilitating access to community resources, language training, and skills training
Support for Indigenous People:
- Offer mentorship, coaching, and networking opportunities for Indigenous workers
- Develop and maintain relationships with Indigenous communities, businesses, and organizations
- Provide cultural competency training and awareness training to all employees, creating a welcoming work environment
Requirements:
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
- 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a kitchen or food service environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide kitchen staff
- Knowledge of food safety and quality control procedures, with the ability to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment
Work Environment:
- Restaurant setting, with a focus on providing exceptional customer service and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment
- 30 to 40 hours per week, with flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends
