About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Director of Engineering Operations to lead our Engineering team in establishing, qualifying, and improving processes and procedures. The successful candidate will help develop and implement optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and procedures in accordance with product specifications and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead the Engineering team in designing and implementing flexible manufacturing systems and production lines by integrating appropriate machinery.
  2. Source, test, and implement new equipment, tooling, and processes to improve overall efficiency and lower costs.
  3. Work closely with Continuous Improvement teams, facilities maintenance/infrastructure, production/operations, and R&D for the installation of new processes and lines.
  4. Conduct studies on machine output and implement quality control measures to increase productivity.
  5. Ensure all equipment meets Pre-Start Health & Safety Review (PSHR) certification requirements.
  6. Plan and design plant layouts and facilities keeping in mind continuous process flow.
  7. Develop and implement routine maintenance programs, schedules, and standards on all production equipment and tooling.
  8. Collaborate with various departments to ensure production plans are properly supported and implemented.
Requirements
  1. Minimum 10+ years proven experience in building and/or retro-fitting manufacturing plants, installing and moving manufacturing lines, and leading sophisticated automation projects.
  2. Experience designing lines/processes for all electrical, mechanical, conveyor systems, and material flow.
  3. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Engineering.
  4. Engineering designation an asset.
  5. Lean or six sigma training/experience preferred.
  6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  7. Ability to travel as required.
  8. Experience reviewing/selecting new technologies and other manufacturing technologies.
  9. Collaborative, inclusive management style.
  10. Bakery/food manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
