Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Painter to join our team at FILCAN YACHTS LTD. This is a temporary position, with 40 hours per week.

The successful candidate will have excellent attention to detail, hand-eye co-ordination, and ability to distinguish between colours. You must be physically demanding and able to lift up to 9 kg (20 lbs). Steel-toed safety boots are a must.

About the Job

This role involves preparing, cleaning, and sanding surfaces to be painted, repairing cracks and holes, mixing paint to desired colour and texture, measuring, cutting, and applying wallpaper and other fabric to walls. Additionally, you will advise consumers on colours and choice of wall coverings, erect scaffolding and swing stages, and attach rigging.

You will apply paint, wallpaper, and other materials and finishes to interior and exterior surfaces, estimate costs and materials, and work in various environments including outdoors and confined spaces.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, clean, and sand surfaces to be painted
  • Repair cracks and holes
  • Mix paint to desired colour and texture
  • Measure, cut, and apply wallpaper and other fabric to walls
  • Advise consumers on colours and choice of wall coverings
  • Erect scaffolding and swing stages and attach rigging
  • Apply paint, wallpaper, and other materials and finishes to interior and exterior surfaces
  • Estimate costs and materials
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts or related field (not required)
  • 7 months to less than 1 year experience in painting (required)
  • Criminal record check (required)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability
