Painter - Surface Preparation Specialist

FILCAN YACHTS LTD. is seeking a skilled Painter - Surface Preparation Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our crew, you will be responsible for preparing surfaces for painting, repairing cracks and holes, and applying paint, wallpaper, and other materials to interior and exterior surfaces.

The ideal candidate will have experience with airless spray equipment, brush painting, and conventional spray painting. They will also be familiar with electrostatic applications equipment, multi-ratio pump spraying, patterned rollers, roller painting, and thermal spray equipment.

In addition to technical skills, the successful candidate will possess excellent hand-eye coordination, attention to detail, and the ability to distinguish between colors. They will also be physically demanding and able to lift up to 9 kg (20 lbs).

  • Tasks: Prepare, clean and sand surfaces to be painted, Repair cracks and holes, Mix paint to desired colour and texture, Measure, cut and apply wallpaper and other fabric to walls, Advise consumers on colours and choice of wall coverings, Erect scaffolding and swing stages and attach rigging, Apply paint, wallpaper and other materials and finishes to interior and exterior surfaces, Estimate costs and materials
  • Equipment and machinery experience: Airless spray equipment, Brush painting, Conventional spray painting, Electrostatic applications equipment, Multi-ratio pump spraying, Patterned rollers, Roller painting, Thermal spray equipment
  • Testing equipment experience: Moisture gauges, Thermometers
  • Surface preparation experience: Drywall taping/patching
  • Coating/application specialization: Urethanes, Dipping
  • Wood finishing specialization: Graining, Marbleizing, Staining, Glazing
  • Wall covering specialization: Wallpaper, Vinyl, Fabrics/upholstery, Wood veneers, Foils, Photographic murals
  • Security and safety: Criminal record check
  • Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail, Hand-eye co-ordination, Ability to distinguish between colours, Bending, crouching, kneeling, Physically demanding
  • Weight handling: Up to 9 kg (20 lbs)
