About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at BWXT Nuclear Energy Canada Inc. in Peterborough, Ontario. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development, and testing of mechanical equipment and systems for CANDU reactors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop mechanical equipment and systems for CANDU reactors, including automated and semi-automated fuelling machines, robotic systems, and maintenance tooling.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design and development meet project requirements and industry standards.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, technical reports, and engineering drawings.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical input to ensure design meets project requirements and industry standards.
  • Work closely with manufacturing, testing, and quality teams to ensure design and development meet project requirements and industry standards.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and advancements in mechanical engineering and apply this knowledge to improve design and development processes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Current Professional Engineer (PEO) license or working towards obtaining one.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in design engineering in nuclear, aerospace, transportation, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Proven track record of leading complex engineering projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Experience with 3D CAD software, FEA software, and machine design principles.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in the CANDU nuclear industry.
  • Familiarity with CSA Nuclear Codes and Standards, ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes and Standards.
  • Knowledge of machine design principles and experience with design for manufacturability/assembly (DFMA) techniques.
