Mechanical Equipment Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Equipment Engineer to join our team at BWXT Nuclear Energy Canada Inc. in Peterborough, Ontario. As a key member of our Fuel Handling and Engineered Solutions group, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical equipment and systems for CANDU reactors.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and develop mechanical equipment and systems for CANDU reactors, including automated and semi-automated fuelling machines, robotic systems, and maintenance tooling.
- Provide technical support to CAD, Procurement, Manufacturing, Test, Quality, and Commissioning and Service personnel.
- Participate in internal and external meetings, such as design reviews, and prepare and present technical data.
- Lead by example, ensuring compliance and adherence to processes, industry codes and standards, quality systems, policies, and contractual requirements.
- Support process change through process enhancement and technology introduction to achieve world-class product development and product deployment.
- Support customer relationships and ensure market alignment, interacting with external customers, subcontractors, and cross-functional internal teams.
- B.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering.
- Holds or working towards a current PEO license.
- Typically requires 7 years' experience in design engineering in Nuclear, Aerospace, Transportation, or other highly regulated and process-based design.
- Demonstrated ability with supporting leadership on complex and general engineering projects over their complete EPC life cycles.
- Demonstrable experience with project schedules, working within budgets, financial metrics, and other project management methodologies.
- Experience with 3D CAD software (preference for Inventor/Solidworks) and FEA software (ANSYS).
- Experience in the CANDU Nuclear Industry.
- Familiarity with CSA Nuclear Codes and Standards.
- Familiarity with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes and Standards.
We offer a competitive salary range of $65,000.00 to $102,000.00 per year, plus an annual cash incentive and a full range of medical, retirement, and other benefits.
