Patient Service Representative

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Service Representative to join our team at Family Health Centers of San Diego. As a key member of our front office staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our patients and medical staff.
Key Responsibilities- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, including identification verification, demographic updates, and insurance information.
- Collect co-pays and payments from patients, screen for eligibility, and provide financial assistance when necessary.
- Ensure accurate and timely entry of patient information into our Electronic Health Record system.
- Process referrals and authorizations for specialty services, and schedule appointments and make reminder/recall notifications.
- Provide excellent customer service, responding to billing and payment inquiries, and escalating issues as needed.
- Perform general clerical duties, including scanning, tracking data, and receiving and sorting correspondence and packages.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Medical Assistant certification, C-NA certification, or Medical Terminology course preferred.

- 1-3 years of experience in administrative/clerical support or customer service required.
- Experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask, be flexible, and meet changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work in a team-based environment and independently.
- Sound computer literacy and knowledge of cashiering functions.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and listen well to patients and medical professionals.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
