Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Service Representative to join our team at Family Health Centers of San Diego. As a key member of our front office staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, including identification verification, demographic updates, and insurance information.
  • Collect co-pays and payments from patients, screen for eligibility, and provide financial assistance when necessary.
  • Follow policies and procedures for collecting and handling cash.
  • Accurately enter patient information into our Electronic Health Record system.
  • Confirm and process referrals and authorizations for specialty services.
  • Communicate with patients to schedule appointments and make reminder/recall notifications.
  • Respond to customer billing and payment inquiries, escalating issues as needed.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, listening to patient needs and taking ownership of solutions.
  • Perform general clerical duties, including scanning, tracking data, and receiving correspondence.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant certification, C-NA certification, or Medical Terminology course preferred.

Experience and Skills
  • 1-3 years of experience in administrative or customer service roles.
  • Experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
  • Ability to multitask, be flexible, and meet changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong computer literacy and ability to use electronic medical record systems.
  • Knowledge of cashiering functions and ability to record payments and cash received.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and listen well to patient needs.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
