Category Leader for Direct Materials

Sun Chemical is seeking a seasoned procurement professional to lead the sourcing strategies for key raw material spend categories. The ideal candidate will have a track record of driving cost reduction and improving service and quality levels in cross-cultural environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies that align with the financial and business objectives of the organization.
  • Manage key raw material sourcing categories with final accountability for the regional/global spend.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in the development and execution of sourcing strategies.
  • Analyze supply markets, supplier economics, and supply/demand dynamics to identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.
  • Implement chemical market tracking metrics to generate leading insights into the direction of major chemical markets.
  • Manage database for spend categories, monitor price change, and project progress monthly.
  • Lead negotiations and development of key contracts with suppliers, legal, and business stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of procurement experience in direct raw materials, preferably in a manufacturing/chemical industry environment.
  • Experience in global procurement/sourcing with a track record of leading change and cost reduction in cross-cultural environments.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, highly organized, and possess excellent problem-solving/decision-making skills.
  • Excellent analytical and business acumen, including cost modeling, budgeting, and forecasting.
