Category Leader for Direct Materials

Sun Chemical is seeking a seasoned procurement professional to lead our direct materials sourcing efforts. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies that drive cost savings, improve service levels, and enhance quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement category management strategies for direct materials, including resin chemistries, solvents, colorants, and additives.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to identify and execute productivity initiatives that optimize value and improve service levels.
  • Analyze supply markets, supplier economics, and supply/demand dynamics to inform sourcing decisions.
  • Collaborate with regional leaders to ensure alignment and fulfillment of regional requirements.
  • Develop and maintain databases to track spend categories, monitor price changes, and project progress.
  • Lead negotiations and contract development with suppliers, legal, and business stakeholders.
  • Define comprehensive category strategies for key raw material categories based on assessments of internal and external markets.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of procurement experience in direct raw materials, preferably in a manufacturing/chemical industry environment.
  • Experience in global procurement/sourcing with a track record of leading change and cost reduction in cross-cultural environments.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, highly organized, and excellent problem-solving/decision-making skills.
  • Excellent analytical and business acumen, including cost modeling, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Experience with SAP and Microsoft Office is a plus.
