The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Interventionist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a key member of our Provincial Preschool Autism Service, you will play a vital role in providing person and family-centred services to preschoolers across Nova Scotia who are suspected of or have a diagnosis of autism.

Job Summary

The Clinical Interventionist will be responsible for facilitating a goal-setting process with families related to their identified needs for their child, providing assessment related to the goal(s), and developing, implementing, and coordinating the resulting intervention programs. You will work within a variety of intervention frameworks, including a 12-month intensive intervention model, a manualized caregiver-mediated program, and focused interventions guided by care pathways.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate goal-setting processes with families to identify their child's needs and develop intervention plans
  • Provide assessment and evaluation services to support the development of intervention plans
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate intervention programs to address the needs of preschoolers with autism
  • Work collaboratively with interprofessional teams to provide comprehensive services to families
  • Provide supervision and support to Program Implementers who will be part of the implementation teams for the 12-month intensive intervention model and other focused interventions
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Clinical Psychology, Speech-Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, or Board-certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA)
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the appropriate professional body in Nova Scotia
  • Valid Class 5 Nova Scotia driver's license and reliable vehicle
  • CPR certification within the last 12 months and certification in First Aid
  • Two years of recent experience working with children with autism (ages 0-6 years old) and their families
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in intervention for children with autism
  • Demonstrated excellence in clinical care, assessment, and intervention planning
  • Demonstrated ability to work within an interprofessional collaborative practice framework and independently with minimal supervision
