Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Cook I to join our team at Southern Health-Santé Sud. As a key member of our Nutrition and Food Services department, you will be responsible for preparing and serving safe, high-quality meals to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and perform daily food preparation, cooking, and service
  • Follow established standards, policies, and procedures for food safety and quality
  • Exercise initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities and methods
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a positive and efficient work environment
  • Meet the physical and mental demands of the job, including lifting and standing for extended periods
Requirements
  • Proficiency in both official languages (English/French)
  • Grade 12 education or equivalent
  • Current Food Handler Training Certificate Level 1 or equivalent Food Sanitation course
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Outlook/Email
  • Knowledge of therapeutic and modified food textures
  • Knowledge of sanitary food handling principles and procedures
  • Minimum one year full-time health care food service experience or institutional cooking experience
Working Conditions

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred.
