Architectural Technician I

Main Responsibilities
This role involves technical office and field work, including the preparation and maintenance of conceptual plans, working drawings, and record drawings for the construction or renovation of civic buildings and facilities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and/or maintain records, files, reports, specifications, and record drawings of all City buildings and related structures.
- Manage data and drawing archives.
- Prepare architectural renderings, layouts, charts, and visual aid material for presentations to management and Council.
- Assemble building and furniture background information for major renovation projects.
Requirements
Candidates must have courses in Building Technology, plus sound related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Skills and Abilities
- Considerable knowledge of architectural drafting methods, practices, and techniques, including computer-aided drafting and specification preparation.
- Working knowledge of construction methods, practices, and materials, and of current construction costs applicable to the work performed.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts, including suppliers, contractors, and movers.
Additional Requirements
A Police Record Check is a requirement of this position. A clearance requires the absence of any criminal charges or convictions related to this position.
Driver's License and Record Checks
Candidates must attach the following records and satisfy the City's driving requirements to be considered for this role:
- Copy of your three-year ICBC Commercial Driver's Abstract (N Print) directly from ICBC dated within 30 days of this posting.
- Copy of your three-year ICBC Driver's Claims History directly from ICBC within 30 days of this posting.
- If you have less than three years driving experience in BC, a request must be made for out of province/country abstract and claims history.
Flexible Work Program
The City of Vancouver has a Flexible Work Program, which allows staff to work remotely 1 – 4 days a week from locations that are a daily commutable distance from their work at a City worksite.
