About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at Mount Sinai Hospital's South General Medicine Unit. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on patient care through your expertise and passion for nursing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply the nursing process to provide holistic patient and family-centered care
  • Provide comprehensive and accurate documentation of assessments, care provision, and evaluations
  • Anticipate, recognize, and address rapidly changing situations
  • Provide health education to patients and their families using effective teaching strategies
  • Administer medications and provide necessary care, including wound care, IVs, and monitoring drains
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including doctors, pharmacists, and social workers
  • Apply a broad range of nursing skills and procedures, including CADD pumps, chest tubes, and central lines
  • Participate in mentoring learners, peers, and other regulated and unregulated health professionals
  • Advocate for safe discharge and transition planning

Requirements

  • Current certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • Graduate of a CNO-approved bachelor's degree in nursing program, or equivalent combined education and experience
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certificate

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
  • Previous clinical experience working with patients with acute and chronic illnesses
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and development
  • Previous experience or involvement in process improvement initiatives
