Procurement Manager, Nuclear Engineering

As a key member of the Bird Construction team, the Procurement Manager will oversee and manage the procurement process for our Nuclear engineering projects, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies for CSA N299 nuclear projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and company policies.
  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and ensure best value for money.
  • Ensure all procurement activities are conducted in accordance with legal and ethical standards, maintaining a high level of integrity and transparency.
  • Manage supplier relationships, ensuring timely delivery of goods and services, and addressing any issues that may arise.
  • Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to understand their procurement requirements and develop procurement plans accordingly.
  • Monitor supplier performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective action plans as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain procurement records, including contracts, purchase orders, and supplier performance metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations related to procurement activities, maintaining a strong reputation for Bird Construction.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree, diploma, or professional designation in procurement, business, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of procurement leadership and management experience, preferably in a nuclear engineering or related industry.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement processes, including sourcing, contracting, negotiation, and supplier management.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement procurement strategies that support business objectives, driving growth and profitability.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain effective supplier relationships, fostering long-term partnerships.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization, from senior management to suppliers.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to procurement activities, staying up-to-date with industry developments and best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and procurement software, with the ability to adapt to new systems and technologies.
