Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating with multidisciplinary design teams, ensuring design conformance to client and company standards, and preparing layouts, conceptual designs, and calculations for distribution and transmission civil/structural projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary design teams, including geotechnical engineers and client reviewers, as needed.
  • Ensure design conformance to client and company design standards.
  • Prepare layouts, conceptual designs, and calculations for distribution and transmission civil/structural projects.
  • Assist in project coordination, strategic planning, client support, and business analysis.
  • Support documentation process for projects, including technical specifications, tender documents, and project calculations.
  • Interface with other design disciplines, coordinate with related stakeholders, and assist team leads and managers.
  • Perform site visits to project locations.

Qualifications

  • A degree in civil engineering from a recognized engineering educational institution, specializing in structural engineering for steel and concrete designs.
  • Registered or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or EIT with EGBC.
  • Civil engineering design experience in an electrical utility environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of electrical utility civil standards, power transmission and distribution networks, and standards is an asset.
  • Experience with finite element modeling and analysis is an asset.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
  • A Class 5 driver's license and ability to travel occasionally are required.
  • Familiarity with BC Hydro standards, design codes, and guides is an asset.
