About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Civil Structural Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team at FNX-INNOV. As a key member of our Energy team, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative solutions for electrical transmission and distribution substation projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with technical staff to design foundation, structural, building, and civil engineering for low, medium, and high voltage electrical transmission and distribution substation projects.
  • Prepare work plans and tenders for new projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Supervise and develop junior/intermediate engineers and technicians, providing guidance and mentorship to ensure their growth and success.
  • Participate in ongoing customer relations, inspections, and site interventions, ensuring excellent customer service and satisfaction.
  • Design feasibility and detail engineering plans for electrical infrastructure, including analysis and design of electrical substation buildings.
  • Perform interventions in terms of surface and underground work, ensuring safe and efficient execution.
  • Follow up on the preparation of civil engineering plans and specifications, originally prepared by a civil engineer.
  • Design structural steel and concrete drawings according to 3D analysis and design codes in use in Canada and internationally.
  • Supervise CAD technicians in the preparation of drawings, ensuring accuracy and quality.
  • Supervise structural inspectors in the preparation of inspection reports and repair designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Prepare specifications for buildings, foundations, and structural work, ensuring clarity and completeness.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of professional experience in civil structural engineering.
  • Member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario.
  • Experience in energy sector's infrastructure, structures, and buildings.
  • Familiar with building codes and major design codes and standards.
  • Proficiency with structural engineering software and computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  • Working knowledge of Revit and BIM software.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Effective organizational and report writing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills, good sense of priorities, and attention to details.
  • Have initiative, good observation skills, curiosity, and ingenuity.
