Carbon Accounting Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Carbon Accounting Manager to join our team at FortisBC. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for managing a team of environmental professionals and providing subject matter expertise on greenhouse gas (GHG) and criteria air contaminant reporting.
Key Responsibilities- GHG Emissions Expertise: Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of GHG emissions sources within the organization, including asset types, operational activities, and quantification techniques.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all regulatory and non-regulatory compliance requirements are met, working collaboratively with external and internal stakeholders.
- Strategic Initiatives: Lead the development and implementation of strategic initiatives, including grant writing, GHG reduction technologies, and technical support on major projects and financial initiatives.
- GHG Quantification: Refine existing GHG quantification models and processes, providing support for forecasting and analyzing GHG emissions.
- Collaboration: Work with other natural gas utilities to develop GHG quantification and reduction technologies for the natural gas distribution sector.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in science or engineering or a related discipline from an accredited university, plus a minimum of eight to 10 years of recent and related experience.
- Professional Designation: Professional engineer, certified professional accountant, professional chemist, or a related field.
- Experience: Detail-oriented approach to work, with the ability to process large volumes of data and translate it into meaningful items. Experience with GHG quantification and modeling software such as OpenLCA, GHGenius, Workiva, or HIS Sphera.
- Research Skills: Demonstrated ability to conduct research to resolve problems related to the quantification of GHG emissions or savings for Major Projects, Engineering and operations, and carbon trading programs.
