Accounts Payable Specialist

Accounting Education is a leading organization dedicated to fostering excellence in financial management and accounting practices. We are currently seeking a skilled Accounts Payable Coordinator to oversee the accounts payable process across various projects and entities.
Role Overview
The Accounts Payable Coordinator will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices and payments. This position involves collaboration with Project Accountants and other team members to ensure all financial transactions are executed seamlessly.
Key Responsibilities
- Payment Processing:
- Match purchase orders with delivery slips and invoices.
- Review and reconcile invoices for payment processing.
- Prepare bank deposits, payments, and electronic fund transfers on a monthly basis.
- Address any discrepancies related to purchase orders, contracts, or invoices. - Cost Allocation and Ledger Management:
- Allocate costs to appropriate accounts through detailed invoice analysis.
- Maintain the accounting ledger by recording and posting transactions accurately. - Vendor Management:
- Manage vendor accounts by reconciling statements and transactions.
- Serve as the primary contact for all inquiries related to accounts payable. - Special Projects:
- Assist with month-end closing procedures as required.
- Provide training to new team members as necessary.
- Undertake additional tasks as assigned by the accounting team.
Qualifications
Essential:
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration or Accounting.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounts payable role or similar position.
- Strong understanding of Canadian GAAP and accounting principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Eligibility to work full-time in Canada.
- Experience with accounting software such as Sage Paperless.
- Background in the real estate or construction sectors is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
