About the Role

Interior Health Authority is seeking an experienced Health Information Processing Manager to lead our Health Information Processing section in Kelowna. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the section, ensuring high efficiency and quality results within allocated resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and provide training/orientation to staff and students, developing and implementing policies and procedures, scheduling and coordinating work assignments, and preparing/administering performance evaluations.
  • Monitor staffing levels and workload patterns, ensuring adequate staffing levels by preparing staff work schedules and rotations, approving vacation requests, and mentoring staff.
  • Act as a technical/clinical resource, responding to queries and recommending best practices, ensuring policies and procedures are followed and clinical standards are maintained.
  • Provide budgetary input, monitoring and reporting on operating expenditures, making recommendations related to capital equipment and service delivery, and investigating and justifying variances.
  • Ensure routine maintenance programs are carried out on departmental equipment, maintain an inventory of equipment and supplies, and participate in safety programs by following safety procedures and promoting safe work practices.
  • Provide direction for optimizing services, ensuring compliance with legislation, professional standards, and organizational policies, and providing recommendations and advice to clinical and medical leaders regarding section services.
  • Compile required organizational information, including statistics and reports, and develop effective relationships with colleagues and external agencies that positively influence professional practice.
  • Provide input to the Professional Practice Leader on departmental planning, staffing levels, special projects, and quality management programs, and lead strategic and tactical planning for the section by developing goals, objectives, standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain awareness of new approaches to care and advocate changes in practice that benefit patient care and service delivery, and represent the Section/Department on internal and external committees or projects as required.
