About the Role


This position is responsible for developing and delivering interpretive and educational programs at the city's historic sites and museums. The successful candidate will also be involved in ongoing work on heritage projects such as the Oral History project and historical research for educational use.



Key Responsibilities



  • Develop and deliver interpretive and educational programs at historic sites and museums
  • Conduct historical research and write projects for educational use
  • Liaise with volunteers, community groups, and facility user groups
  • Assist with promotional activities and supervise summer staff
  • Perform reception and clerical duties as needed


Requirements



  • Enrolled in a university or college program in history, social sciences, museum studies, education, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 2 years of interpretive experience in a museum environment, or 2 years of teaching experience in a school environment, or 1 year of experience in historical research and project writing
  • Current Standard First Aid, CPR, and/or AED certificates, and AODA Customer Service/IASR Training

  • Various language requirements, locations may require English only, French only, or bilingual competencies

  • Police Record Check: The successful candidate will be required to complete a Criminal Records and Judicial Matters Check with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa's satisfaction
