About the Role

The University Health Network is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join our Allied Health team. As an integral member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide quality occupational therapy services to patients at Toronto General Hospital, focusing on patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, treat, and evaluate clients to prevent, alleviate, or minimize dysfunction.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans to enable clients to achieve their maximum level of functional independence.
  • Communicate effectively with the inter-professional team, providing education to patients, their families, occupational therapy students, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, meetings, committees, and quality initiatives in the Department and relevant Programs/Services.
  • Assist with coverage of other service areas as required.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent.
  • Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.
  • Member of Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT) and/or Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists (OSOT) is preferred.
  • MoCA certification.
  • 1-2 years experience in an acute care hospital is preferred.
  • Experience with psychosocial and physical health and related assessment and intervention skills addressing occupational performance.
  • Experience with splinting, neurological dysfunction, as well as seating and positioning is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrates strong and effective written, oral, and nonverbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job.
