Job Summary:

Bouchier is seeking a skilled Electrical Maintenance Specialist to join our team at the CNRL Horizon Camp Maintenance site. As a Journeyman Electrician, you will be responsible for installing and repairing electrical wire, cable, and equipment within camp dormitories and other structures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and maintain electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures, ensuring compliance with the Canadian Electrical Code.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical malfunctions, using test equipment and hand tools to identify and correct issues.
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, and other components, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
  • Inspect electrical systems and equipment to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
  • Advise management on the safety and feasibility of continued equipment operation.
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits, using multimeters and megohmmeters to ensure compatibility and safety.
  • Use a variety of tools and equipment, including power construction equipment, measuring devices, and testing equipment.
  • Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors, transformers, and circuit breaker panels.
  • Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and architectural drawings and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts.
  • Position, maintain, and install distribution and control equipment, such as switches, relays, circuit breaker panels, and fuse enclosures.
  • Install and insulate self-regulating heat trace and test with multimeter and megohmmeter.
  • Lockout electrical systems for all trades.
  • Train and mentor apprentices as required.
  • Perform other duties as required by supervision, such as assisting laborers, carpenters, and plumbers.

Requirements:

  • Valid Alberta Journeyman Electrician Ticket or Red Seal Certification.
  • 4+ years' experience in residential or commercial construction projects.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of computers, including Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in a variety of conditions.
  • Safety-conscious attitude.
  • Ability to get along well with others on a work team.
  • CSTS and OSSA Regional Orientation or OSSA BSO (Basic Safety Orientation before December 31, 2018) or CSO (Common Safety Orientation after January 1, 2019).
  • Ability to speak, read, and write fluently in English.
