Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, test, and maintain electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical systems, apparatuses, and components, using test equipment and hand tools.
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, and other components.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
  • Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as multimeters and megohmmeters.
  • Use a variety of tools and equipment, including power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment.
  • Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors, transformers, circuit breaker panels, and disconnects.
  • Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and architectural drawings and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts.
  • Position, maintain, and install distribution and control equipment, such as switches, relays, circuit breaker panels, and fuse enclosures.
  • Install and insulate self-regulating heat trace and test with multimeter and megohmmeter.
  • Lockout electrical systems for all trades, familiar with Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required by supervision, such as assisting laborers, carpenters, and plumbers.

Requirements:

  • Valid Alberta Journeyman Electrician Ticket or Red Seal Certification.
  • 4+ years' experience in Residential or Commercial Construction Projects.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge with computers: Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.
  • Excellent communication and Customer Service skills.
  • Ability to work in a variety of conditions.
  • Safety conscious attitude.
  • Ability to get along well with others on a work team.
  • CSTS and OSSA Regional Orientation or OSSA BSO (Basic Safety Orientation before December 31, 2018) or CSO (Common Safety Orientation after January 1, 2019).
  • All applicants must have the ability to speak, read, and write fluently in English.
  • Previous Renovation Experience is considered an asset.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a work team.
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive Drug, Alcohol, and Physical Demand Assessment.
  • All applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
