The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Buyer to join our team at Hunter Amenities International Ltd. in Burlington, Ontario. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for the efficient purchasing of raw materials and packaging for our manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Procure and source all materials, components, packaging, finished goods, and accessories for assigned portfolio to satisfy production while balancing cost and inventory considerations.
  • Execute projects, including monitoring and ensuring adherence to project timelines.
  • Communicate material/vendor issues that will impact production/delivery schedules.
  • Develop and manage a supplier base to ensure consistent achievement of all performance requirements.
  • Conduct and finalize supplier sourcing and negotiations, including overseas vendors.
  • Develop contingency alternatives for major commodities.
  • Actively work towards supply base consolidation.
  • Collaborate with the forecasting department to reduce lead times, inventory levels, and order accuracy.
  • Work with all departments to manage excess inventories and end-of-program analysis.
  • Assist with creative, quality, and production during product development and change processes.
  • Support the quality department with vendor-related issues as necessary.
  • Cost reductions of materials through the initiation and participation in the benchmarking process.
  • Maintain and update all purchasing item data.
  • Participate in the ongoing development of corporate standard operating procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
  • College diploma or university degree.
  • PMAC/APICS certification or enrollment.
  • 5+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment, including managing overseas vendors.
  • Strong vendor relationship and negotiation skills.
  • Well-developed communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and conflicting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid technical skills, including computer skills (Word, Excel, and Outlook, ERP-based systems).
  • Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Thorough understanding of and approach to continuous improvement.
