Medical Imaging Specialist

St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital seeks a Medical Imaging Specialist to join its Diagnostic Imaging department. This role requires preparing, performing and documenting scans, images and tests as required, ensuring high quality tests, patient safety and appropriate use of radiopharmaceuticals.
About the RoleThis position reports to the Manager of Diagnostic Imaging and is responsible for preventative maintenance and quality assurance duties as required. The ideal candidate will have knowledge, skills and judgement to practice safely by adhering to provincial/federal legislation and guidelines, departmental protocols/policies, and manufacturers' guidelines pertaining to health and safety.
Responsibilities- Preparing, performing and documenting scans, images and tests as required
- Maintaining a clean and safe work environment
- Ensuring high quality tests and patient safety
- Using radiopharmaceuticals appropriately
- Performing preventative maintenance and quality assurance duties
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A degree or diploma in Nuclear Medicine from an accredited program
- College of Medical Radiation Technologists NM designation
- CAMRT Registration preferred with CMRTO Registration required
- IV Certification and ability to administer radiopharmaceuticals
- Current BLS Certification
- TDG Training within the last three years
- Intermediate knowledge level of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Effective positive interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
- Demonstrated ability to work well independently and in a collaborative team environment with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, and to critically problem-solve, and prioritize workload
- Demonstrated flexibility within roles and responsibilities with the ability to adapt quickly to changes in assignment throughout a shift
- Demonstrated commitment to patient safety
- Acceptable performance record reflective of the Mission, Vision, Values
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
- Excellent and dependable attendance record
The successful candidate can expect a competitive salary range of $36.84 - $50.24 per hour, commensurate with experience. In addition, we offer a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental and vision coverage, pension plan, and generous vacation time.
