Job Summary:

The Director, Student Life, Housing and Athletic Services will lead a team of professionals to establish the foundation for the development of a holistic student experience that enables a sense of belonging and student success skill development. This role will play a key part in student retention and co-curricular skill development that positions GBC students for personal and professional success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Student Life and Communities of Belonging: The successful candidate will collaborate and engage with Indigenous peoples within the academic schools, student experience, and other key collaborators to inform the integration of Indigenous knowledges and exploration of services and supports for Indigenous Students through the Student Life continuum.
  • Strategic and Risk Mitigation Leadership: The Director will engage in the development of the broader College strategic plans to support student learning and success and provide connection to, and oversight of, deliverables within the portfolio.
  • Student Development and Success: The successful candidate will provide intelligent and grounded contributions to inform college-wide recruitment, persistence/retention, and graduation elements of student success planning through participation in college committees and related working groups.
  • Resource Stewardship and Business Operations: The Director will develop the human resource capacity necessary to deliver services through the selection and development of staff and design of organizational structures.
  • Collaborative Partnerships and Professional Communities: The successful candidate will partner with the Deans, Associate Vice-President, and other senior staff members at the College to ensure that appropriate portfolio services are delivered to and utilized by students.

Requirements:

  • Education and Experience: A minimum of a Master's degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certifications and Skills: Certifications in human resources, counseling, or other related fields are assets to this role. The successful candidate will have a strong working knowledge of post-secondary delivery, excellent communication and facilitation skills, and the ability to strategically facilitate change and incorporate innovative practices into the organization.
