Job Summary

The Canadian National Railway Company (CN) is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill a full-time Intern, Mechanical - Field position in Edmonton, AB from May - August 2025. As a key member of the Mechanical Field team, you will collaborate with leadership to ensure railcar inspection, maintenance, and repair are performed safely and efficiently.

Main Responsibilities
  • Support online failure investigation and follow-up
  • Assist in response to dangerous good incidents and leaks in yards
  • Contribute to ensuring that Performance Monitoring Reporting Compliance (PMRC) targets, expectations, and objectives are met
  • Analyze car inspection and repair productivity using CN's data
  • Perform analysis on locomotive reliability and repair billing initiatives
  • Assist in identifying, developing, and initiating improvement activities
  • Support in the creation and implementation of locomotive automated alerts
  • Help in documenting, identifying, and analyzing failure patterns
  • Launch surveys to conduct root cause analysis requirements
Requirements
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams Notes, and Word)
  • Knowledge of reporting software such as Tableau and Smartsheet
  • Knowledge of Systems, Applications and Products (SAP), Query Designer, ARIBA or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Service Reliability System (SRS)
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to work outdoors in various types of weather and environmental conditions
  • Ability to perform occasional travel (25%) between Canada and the United States (U.S.)
Education

Working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, BCom, Computer Science, or Construction Management
