Elementary Itinerant Counsellor Position

The Abbotsford School District is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Elementary Itinerant Counsellor to join our team. As a key member of our District Learning Support Services team, you will provide emotional, social, and behavioral support to identified students across multiple elementary schools.
Key Responsibilities- Provide ongoing support to students, parents, and families through direct support or referrals to community agencies.
- Collaborate with School-Based Teams and integrated care teams to ensure comprehensive support for students.
- Liaise with district and community agencies to access resources and programs for students.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in counselling and education.
- Master's Degree in Counselling with a counselling practicum relevant to the school environment.
- Experience as a school counsellor at the elementary level.
- Training in violence, threat, risk assessment (VTRA) and non-violent crisis intervention certification.
- Eligibility for B.C. Certification.
- Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum report.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to consider and respond appropriately to the needs, feelings, and capabilities of others.
- Organization and Planning: Ability to plan and organize for effective instruction, differentiation, and assessment.
- Classroom Management: Create and maintain an optimal learning environment for each student.
- Facilitation and Engagement: Ability to capture and maintain students' interest, effort, participation, and enthusiasm for learning.
- Assessment and Coaching: Utilize balanced assessment and feedback to improve student learning.
- Collaboration and Teamwork: Collaborate with others to achieve group goals and objectives.
- Caring and Inclusiveness: Create and maintain an environment that is caring, inclusive, and supportive of all students.
- Flexibility and Adaptability: Demonstrate flexibility in adjusting to changing circumstances.
