Project Governance Financial Specialist Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Project Governance Financial Specialist to join our team in Yellowknife, Canada. As a key member of our Buildings practice, you will play a critical role in providing financial support for the successful execution of construction projects.

Job Description:Key Responsibilities:
  1. Collaborate with business center leadership, finance, project managers, and other project controllers to ensure successful project execution, overall financial health of business operations, and process optimization.
  2. Support project management best practices, set up revenue/cost forecasting, change management, budgets, and business plans.
  3. Monitor project financial progress, recommend areas of improvement, and help identify areas of risk.
  4. Assist with internal processes (project setups, forecasting, monitoring gross margins, invoicing/accounts receivable, sub-consultants, contract reviews, etc.).
  5. Work closely with the project team to maintain a current and accurate understanding of project status, issues, and changes.
  6. Gather and analyze data to understand trends to assist leadership with business decisions.
  7. Review and analyze project gross margins and work with team and management to find cost savings and efficiencies.
  8. Assist team members to adhere to client standards and corporate policies and procedures, i.e., status reporting, quality reviews, audits, etc.
  9. Support PM by coordinating project deliverables and schedules and subconsultant contract management.
  10. Support and assist with training of project controllers and project managers.
  11. Collaborate with client project control staff.
  12. Foster a healthy and safe work environment and provide safety compliance.
  13. Create and maintain strong relationships both internally and externally including associated stakeholders.
  14. Support business development functions which may include proposal preparation.
Qualifications:
  1. Prior work in a financial role/project controller/project manager/project assistant role is a plus.
  2. Financial Acumen: understanding of general finance and budgeting, including profit and loss.
  3. Strong analytical skills required to review all project controls information and ensure accuracy as well as identify issues, concerns, and potential mitigations.
  4. Strong listening, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  5. Effective time management skills and ability to handle multiple priorities and assignments.
  6. Excellent written and verbal communications a must.
  7. Exceptional attention to detail.
  8. Eager to learn, resourceful, and a "team player" approach.
  9. Must have good interpersonal skills, including ability to build and maintain solid relationships with internal and external staff.
  10. Adaptability to find solutions to maximize efficiency with processes.
  11. Must be able to successfully work both collaboratively and independently.
  12. Experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro, MS Outlook, MS Teams, MS Office 365 including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, and Access.
Education and Experience:
  1. Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience.
  3. Work experience in project management, finance, analytics is preferred.
Salary and Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary range of $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision coverage, we also offer a group registered retirement savings plan, employee stock purchase program, and group tax-free savings account.

Location:

This position is based in Yellowknife, Canada, with occasional travel to other locations within the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, and Yukon.
