Project Governance Financial Specialist Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Project Governance Financial Specialist to join our team in Yellowknife, Canada. As a key member of our Buildings practice, you will play a critical role in providing financial support for the successful execution of construction projects.
Job Description:Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with business center leadership, finance, project managers, and other project controllers to ensure successful project execution, overall financial health of business operations, and process optimization.
- Support project management best practices, set up revenue/cost forecasting, change management, budgets, and business plans.
- Monitor project financial progress, recommend areas of improvement, and help identify areas of risk.
- Assist with internal processes (project setups, forecasting, monitoring gross margins, invoicing/accounts receivable, sub-consultants, contract reviews, etc.).
- Work closely with the project team to maintain a current and accurate understanding of project status, issues, and changes.
- Gather and analyze data to understand trends to assist leadership with business decisions.
- Review and analyze project gross margins and work with team and management to find cost savings and efficiencies.
- Assist team members to adhere to client standards and corporate policies and procedures, i.e., status reporting, quality reviews, audits, etc.
- Support PM by coordinating project deliverables and schedules and subconsultant contract management.
- Support and assist with training of project controllers and project managers.
- Collaborate with client project control staff.
- Foster a healthy and safe work environment and provide safety compliance.
- Create and maintain strong relationships both internally and externally including associated stakeholders.
- Support business development functions which may include proposal preparation.
- Prior work in a financial role/project controller/project manager/project assistant role is a plus.
- Financial Acumen: understanding of general finance and budgeting, including profit and loss.
- Strong analytical skills required to review all project controls information and ensure accuracy as well as identify issues, concerns, and potential mitigations.
- Strong listening, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective time management skills and ability to handle multiple priorities and assignments.
- Excellent written and verbal communications a must.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Eager to learn, resourceful, and a "team player" approach.
- Must have good interpersonal skills, including ability to build and maintain solid relationships with internal and external staff.
- Adaptability to find solutions to maximize efficiency with processes.
- Must be able to successfully work both collaboratively and independently.
- Experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro, MS Outlook, MS Teams, MS Office 365 including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, and Access.
- Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience.
- Work experience in project management, finance, analytics is preferred.
We offer a competitive salary range of $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision coverage, we also offer a group registered retirement savings plan, employee stock purchase program, and group tax-free savings account.
Location:This position is based in Yellowknife, Canada, with occasional travel to other locations within the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, and Yukon.
