District Aboriginal Middle/Secondary Helping Teacher

Key Qualifications
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Aboriginal Education Support Teacher to join our team at the York Region District School Board. The successful candidate will possess a certificate of qualification issued under the Teachers Act, a Bachelor of Education or equivalent, and a thorough knowledge and understanding of local Indigenous culture, history, and communities.
Responsibilities
- Integrate appropriate Indigenous content and resources into educational programs
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with teaching and non-teaching staff, parents/guardians, and community members
- Support the implementation of the District (Aboriginal Education) Partnership Agreement and the District Framework for Enhancing Student Learning
- Collaborate with colleagues to improve student achievement and support the principles of a learner-focused education system
Requirements
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work co-operatively with others
- Strong classroom management skills
- Ability to integrate technology into educational programs
