District Aboriginal Middle/Secondary Helping Teacher

Key Responsibilities:
The York Region District School Board is seeking a qualified individual to fill the role of District Aboriginal Middle/Secondary Helping Teacher. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for:
- Providing support and guidance to teachers and staff in the implementation of Indigenous education programs and initiatives.
- Developing and delivering professional development opportunities for teachers and staff on Indigenous education topics.
- Collaborating with teachers and staff to integrate Indigenous content and resources into educational programs.
- Providing support and guidance to students and families on Indigenous education topics.
- Staying up-to-date on best practices and research in Indigenous education.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A certificate of qualification issued under the Teachers Act.
- A Bachelor of Education or equivalent degree.
- A thorough knowledge and understanding of local Indigenous culture, history, and communities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers and staff.
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to integrate technology into educational programs.
