About the Role

The Water Billing and Accounting Specialist will be responsible for maintaining accurate records and performing various tasks related to water billing and accounting. This includes preparing invoices, adjusting accounts, and ensuring timely payment processing.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Maintain accurate records of customer accounts, including account balances, payments, and adjustments.
  2. Prepare and send invoices to customers, as well as adjust accounts for errors or discrepancies.
  3. Perform daily meter card data entry and verify information for accuracy.
  4. Analyze variance reports and identify areas for improvement in billing processes.
  5. Communicate with customers regarding billing inquiries, issues, and concerns.
  6. Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
  7. Identify and resolve account inconsistencies, and prepare work orders for maintenance or repairs as needed.
  8. Maintain files and databases to track customer information, billing history, and account status.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  1. A minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent.
  2. An accounting background and problem-solving abilities.
  3. Proven ability to organize a fluctuating workload and meet deadlines.
  4. Attention to detail and utmost accuracy.
  5. Ability to deal with difficult people and provide excellent customer service.
  6. Computer experience using Internet, Microsoft spreadsheet, and word processing packages.
  7. Experience with Vailtech, Work Manager, and Amanda applications preferred.
