About the Role:

The Canadian Health Care Agency is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team as a Community Care Specialist. This role requires providing culturally safe care for Indigenous patients and families in remote, isolated, or semi-isolated areas across Manitoba.

As a Community Care Specialist, you will be a valued member of our team, delivering primary care and public health services through a set of integrated and accessible health care services. Public health involves working collaboratively with community members to identify health priorities while addressing and promoting community health care prevention.

Requirements:

  • 3000 hours of clinical experience acquired within the last 3 years
  • Experience related to performing complex activities in a wide variety of situations in either Primary/Acute/Intensive care, Urgent/Emergency care, or Community health (public health and home and community care)

Education & Credentials:

  • Recognized Canadian Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Valid CRNM license for Manitoba in good standing
  • Having an up-to-date certification in the following areas:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers issued by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and International Trauma Life Support (ITLS)
  • Valid class "G" or equivalent driver's license
  • Mask-fit Tested
  • WHMIS
  • TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods)
  • Medical Clearance from applicant's primary care provider
  • Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance / Background check

Profile:

  • Willingness and ability to travel in small aircraft, off-road vehicles, and by boat in varied weather conditions to communities in remote and isolated areas
  • Being comfortable working in a rigorous and diverse work environment
  • May be required to be temporarily reassigned to other communities as operationally required
  • Flexibility to perform on-call duties, work after hours/overnight, and on weekends as required
  • Eager to complete mandatory education/training relevant to the position
