Job Title: Registered Psychiatric Nurse/Registered Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Psychiatric Nurse/Registered Nurse to join our team at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide professional nursing services to patients with complex and unpredictable health needs.

Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Manager, Health Services, you will be responsible for providing independent nursing services, administering interventions and treatments, and facilitating coordination of patient care and discharge. You will also demonstrate a commitment to the vision, values, goals, and objectives of the region/facility/unit.

Responsibilities
  • Provide professional nursing services to patients with complex and unpredictable health needs
  • Administer interventions and treatments as prescribed by healthcare professionals
  • Facilitate coordination of patient care and discharge
  • Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to achieve patient-centered care
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Monitor and evaluate patient progress
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved Registered Psychiatric Nursing program or approved Registered Nursing program
  • Active registration with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba (CRPNM) or the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM)
  • Two years of Child and Adolescent Mental Health experience
  • Knowledge of College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses/Registered Nurses of Manitoba Standards of Practice for Registered Psychiatric/Registered Nurses
  • Knowledge of College of Registered Psychiatric/Registered Nurses of Manitoba Code of Ethics for Registered Psychiatric/Registered Nurses
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines
  • Nursing care knowledge related to clinical area
  • Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), Protection of Persons in Care Act, Mental Health Act, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), Principles of Routine Practices (Universal Precautions) and other legislated acts
  • Roles and responsibilities of members of the healthcare team
  • Principles of delegation
