We are seeking a highly skilled Marine Engineer Officer to join our team at Océan. As a key member of our crew, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper operation of our tug machinery, including starting and stopping procedures for the main engines and auxiliary generators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain all machinery on our fleet, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on the engine room and all equipment on board, adhering to established procedures and guidelines.
  • Conduct thorough inspections and troubleshooting to identify and resolve any issues with the machinery and equipment.
  • Collaborate with the rest of the crew to ensure seamless operations and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our tug machinery operations.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry developments and best practices, applying this knowledge to enhance our operations.

Requirements:

  • Canadian 3rd Class Marine Engineer's Certificate (Motor)
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience at sea as an engineer
  • Valid Marine Medical Certificate
  • Ability to operate lifeboats and rescue boats other than fast rescue boats
  • Advanced firefighting techniques (certificates of competency required for marine voyages outside the Gulf)
  • Restricted radio operator certificate (an asset)
  • Good knowledge of diesel mechanics and hydraulic systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Positive leadership skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
