Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Officer Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our vessels' machinery, including the main engines and auxiliary generators.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain all machinery on board our vessels.
  • Perform routine maintenance in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
  • Carry out repairs and maintenance of the engine room and all equipment on board.
  • Ensure the proper functioning of all equipment on board.
  • Disassemble, repair, and reassemble equipment related to the main diesel engines, auxiliary diesel engines, hydraulic valves, water pumps, and electrical systems on board.
  • Read and understand ship drawings (hull, piping diagrams, electrical diagrams, and machinery diagrams).
  • Participate in and support activities related to the company's health, safety, and environmental management system.

Requirements

  • Canadian Marine Mechanic 3rd Class (Motor) certification.
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience at sea as a mechanic.
  • Valid maritime medical certificate.
  • Certificates of competence: Basic Safety Training (BST), Advanced Fire Fighting (AFA), and Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (PSCRB).
  • Restricted Radio Operator Certificate (an asset).
  • Good knowledge of diesel mechanics and hydraulic systems.
  • Analytical skills for problem-solving and fault diagnosis.
  • Ability to work on a computer in a Microsoft Office environment.
  • Positive leadership skills.
  • Sense of responsibility, autonomy, motivation, and punctuality.
  • Bilingualism in French and English, both orally and in writing (an asset).
