About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Sous Chef to join our Culinary Team at S+L Kitchen & Bar in Langley. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all kitchen operations, including menu planning, inventory management, and staff supervision.
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop and implement new menu items and promotions.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence in all aspects of kitchen operations.
  • Develop and maintain a positive and productive team culture, fostering open communication and a collaborative work environment.
  • Monitor and control food costs, labor costs, and inventory levels to ensure profitability and efficiency.
  • Participate in menu engineering and pricing strategies to optimize sales and profitability.
  • Develop and implement training programs for kitchen staff, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge needed to excel in their roles.
  • Conduct regular kitchen audits to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop and implement strategies to improve customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a professional kitchen, preferably in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven track record of success in managing kitchen operations, including menu planning, inventory management, and staff supervision.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and make informed decisions.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, with a strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
