Job Title: Addiction Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Addiction Specialist to join our team at Marymound. As an Addiction Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing youth-centered services to promote prevention and harm reduction strategies, intervention, planning, and follow-up services for youth concerning addictions and underlying mental health struggles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct assessments to determine acuity of risk and knowledge of harm reduction and safety measures.
  • Develop and implement youth-centered healing and treatment plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with youth and provide education and consultation to support their recovery journey.
  • Organize and facilitate support and educational group sessions to promote healthy coping mechanisms and life skills.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support for youth with health and safety concerns related to addiction.
  • Participate in staff meetings and planning days to discuss program concerns, clinical treatment issues, and unit management.
  • Develop and evaluate harm reduction protocols and standards of practice.
  • Manage inventory of required equipment and supplies for assessments, interventions, and groups.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care and support to youth.
  • Document and maintain accurate records of client interactions, treatment plans, and progress.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Social Work, Psychology, Human Ecology).
  • Training and expertise in substance use treatment and harm reduction philosophies and strategies.
  • Minimum of two years' relevant working experience.
  • Experience working with vulnerable and at-risk populations.
  • Demonstrated experience and competence working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Mental health/crisis training certifications (e.g., NVCI, ASIST) are considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous culture and willingness to learn and participate in cultural practices, programming, and ceremonies.
  • Valid First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Valid Class 5F full driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector checks.
  • Clear Child Abuse Registry and Prior Contact checks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Office software.
