Job Title: Addiction Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Addiction Specialist to join our team at Marymound. As an Addiction Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing youth-centered services to promote prevention and harm reduction strategies, intervention, planning, and follow-up services for youth concerning addictions and underlying mental health struggles.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct assessments to determine acuity of risk and knowledge of harm reduction and safety measures.
  2. Develop and implement youth-centered healing and treatment plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
  3. Establish and maintain positive relationships with youth, families, and community partners.
  4. Provide education and consultation to youth and the multidisciplinary team to contribute to the delivery of holistic, comprehensive, and high-quality health services.
  5. Organize and facilitate support and educational group sessions.
  6. Provide crisis intervention and support for youth with health and safety concerns related to addiction.
  7. Participate in staff meetings and planning days to discuss program concerns, clinical treatment issues, and unit management.
  8. Develop and evaluate harm reduction protocols and standards of practice.
  9. Manage inventory of required equipment and supplies.
  10. Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide assessments, coordinate client care, and provide treatment services.
  11. Identify and connect youth with internal and external supports, including community resources.
  12. Maintain thorough and up-to-date documentation and records.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Social Work, Psychology, Human Ecology).
  2. Training and expertise in substance use treatment and harm reduction philosophies and strategies.
  3. Minimum of two years' relevant working experience.
  4. Experience working with vulnerable and at-risk populations.
  5. Demonstrated experience and competence working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  6. Mental health/crisis training certifications (e.g., NVCI, ASIST).
  7. Knowledge of Indigenous culture and willingness to learn.
  8. Valid First Aid/CPR certification.
  9. Valid Class 5F full driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  10. Satisfactory Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector checks.
  11. Clear Child Abuse Registry and Prior Contact checks.
  12. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  13. Demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  14. Working knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Office software.
