Role Overview:

The Senior Geriatric Mental Health Consultant will play a key role in the North Bay Regional Health Centre's (NBRHC) efforts to provide high-quality care to older adults with complex mental health needs. Reporting directly to the Regional Manager, this position will work closely with healthcare professionals to develop and implement strategies for improving patient outcomes.

Job Summary:

This is a challenging opportunity for an experienced consultant to lead change initiatives in geriatric mental health care. As a seasoned professional, you will be responsible for consulting with healthcare teams, developing educational programs, and providing guidance on best practices. Your expertise will be invaluable in helping NBRHC achieve its goal of delivering exceptional care to patients and families.

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled consultant with a strong background in geriatric mental health care. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with older adults, a deep understanding of evidence-based practices, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will be part of a dynamic team that values collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Consult with healthcare teams to identify areas for improvement and develop targeted strategies to enhance patient care
  2. Design and deliver educational programs for healthcare professionals on geriatric mental health topics
  3. Provide expert guidance on best practices in geriatric mental health care
  4. Collaborate with regional partners to advance system-level changes in geriatric mental health care
  5. Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and participate in quality assurance activities
  6. Maintain current knowledge of emerging trends and best practices in geriatric mental health care
  7. Travel throughout the Algoma district and beyond as required

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a related field (e.g., nursing, social work, occupational therapy)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in geriatric mental health care
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated expertise in coaching, facilitation, and change management
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset

Salary:

$57.91 per hour (maximum rate)
