We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for partnering with the Psychogeriatric Resource Consultant (PRC) to lead an integrated system of care through capacity enhancement, network engagement, and specialized clinical consultation.

The Mental Health Specialist will work closely with staff in Long-term Care Homes (LTCHs) and community agencies to support older adults with or at risk of responsive behaviours affected by neurocognitive, mental health, substance use, and/or other neurological conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide best practice consultation and education across diverse healthcare sectors, applying adult learning principles.
  • Collaborate with Geriatric Psychiatrists, Care of the Elderly Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and other clinical care partners to engage and coordinate specialized consultations.
  • Demonstrate applied research skills and ability to support the development and spread of quality improvement practices and standard protocols.
  • Work independently and as part of an inter-professional care team to meet competing needs within fast-paced work environments.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in a recognized healthcare profession.
  • Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate required.
  • Proven experience in best practice consultation and education, with application of adult learning principles.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and advanced working knowledge of emerging and best practices in psychopathology, psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, and non-pharmacological techniques.
