About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Tax Administrator to join our Wealth Management team at Scotiabank. As a Tax Administrator, you will play a critical role in preparing income tax returns, analyzing financial data, and providing exceptional customer service to our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and Review Tax Returns
    • Proactively gather and analyze financial data, including income statements, transactions, tax slips, and capital gains & losses statements.
    • Prepare accurate and complete tax returns, ensuring compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations.
  • Provide Tax Guidance and Support
    • Discuss tax rules and tax elections with tax officers, associate tax officers, and/or managers, taxation.
    • Assess client tax situations, perform detailed analysis, undertake research, and provide suggestions around specific courses of action in less complex situations.
  • Champion Customer-Focused Culture
    • Deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Understand and Adhere to Risk Management Frameworks
    • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
    • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of your respective areas, while ensuring thorough knowledge of, and strict adherence to, the Bank's Global Sales Practices.

Requirements

  • Education
    • Currently enrolled in post-secondary education.
  • Skills
    • Strong computer skills, including knowledge of tax preparation programs and Microsoft applications (especially PowerPoint, Excel, and Word).
    • Knowledge of Salesforce and the Broadridge Trust System.
    • Detail-oriented and organized.
    • Customer service focus.
    • Strong writing skills and exceptional attention to detail.
