The University of British Columbia is seeking an Education Program Developer to join its team in the Division of Continuing Professional Development. This role will support the development and implementation of innovative education programs for healthcare professionals in BC and beyond.

Job Description:

This position involves working closely with project partners, stakeholders, and UBC CPD staff to design, plan, and implement educational projects and initiatives. The successful candidate will have a strong background in adult education, experience in project management, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain close working relationships with key project partners, including BC Health Authorities, Rural Coordination Centre of BC, and other provincial and national partners
  • Support educational development for various practitioner audiences, including physicians and allied health professionals
  • Lead the implementation and evaluation of educational projects, including identifying areas for new educational programs and developing business cases for new projects
  • Work collaboratively with project teams to develop marketing strategies, coordinate committees, and oversee project operations, including program finances and budgets
  • Develop and implement project management plans, including refining and maintaining project budgets and developing cost-recovery budgets and revenue generation plans
  • Provide guidance to physicians and others in the design, accreditation, and coordination of continuing professional development events
  • Develop and conduct surveys, lead or oversee focus groups, and assist in data preparation, collection, entry, and analysis (qualitative and quantitative)
  • Support the preparation of abstracts, manuscripts, and reports for conferences, funders, and peer-reviewed publications

Supervision and Working Relationships:

The incumbent receives ongoing guidance and support from the UBC CPD Senior Manager and works under the general direction of the UBC CPD Director. Works with a high level of independence and is responsible for task planning and prioritization. Meets regularly with senior staff to review performance and portfolio. At a project level, receives direction from project leads, some of whom may not work in the same location.

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., adult education, educational technology, distance education, or educational psychology)
  • Minimum of four years related experience in adult education or continuing education programs, preferably in a cost-recovery environment
  • Experience in teaching adults, educational implementation, and grant/proposal writing an asset
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise of information technologies and communications tools, as well as effective instructional design and database experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, analyze problems, identify key information and issues, and effectively resolve problems
  • Effective supervisory, organizational, and time management skills, as well as ability to motivate employees and colleagues and build relationships and work collaboratively with project leadership and partners
