About the Role

This is a challenging opportunity for a skilled Data Engineer to join our team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our data engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing data engineering solutions to support our business needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Develop Data Engineering Solutions: You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design and develop data engineering solutions that meet our business requirements.
  • Implement Data Ingestion and Transformation: You will be responsible for implementing data ingestion and transformation solutions using various tools and technologies.
  • Contribute to Data Engineering Team: You will work collaboratively with the data engineering team to design, develop, and implement data engineering solutions.
  • Support Existing Data Solutions: You will provide support for existing data solutions and ensure they are running smoothly.
  • Stay Up-to-Date with Industry Trends: You will stay current with industry trends and technologies to ensure our data engineering solutions are aligned with best practices.
Requirements
  • Experience with Big Data: You should have at least 1 year of experience working with big data.
  • ETL Tool Experience: You should have 5+ years of experience working with ETL tools.
  • Programming Language Experience: You should have 5+ years of experience working with Java, Python, and Spark.
  • Software Development Experience: You should have 5+ years of experience in software development.
  • Agile Methodology Experience: Experience with Agile Scrum/Kanban methodology is an asset.
  • Production Support Experience: Production support experience is an asset.
  • DevOps Experience: Working experience with DevOps and running Jenkins pipelines is a nice to have.
  • Communication Skills: You should have strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Basic RDBMS Skills: You should have basic RDBMS skills and experience.
  • Unix/Linux Experience: You should have hands-on experience with Unix/Linux Command Line Interface (CLI).
  • Version Control Experience: You should have experience with code repository, version control, and code promotion tools such as Git/bitbucket.
