Career Opportunity: Healthcare Specialist for Complex Needs
Salary Range: $87,312.23 - $117,319.08 per annum
As a Housing & Health Nurse with BC Housing, you will play a vital role in assessing and consulting with applicants and tenants who have complex social and healthcare needs or behavioral problems. Your expertise will be invaluable in delivering training programs, critical event stress management defusing services, and liaising with regional and community health authorities, non-profit housing societies, and co-operative housing groups.
About the Role
This challenging position involves working with individuals from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds, requiring excellent interpersonal skills, assessment, and problem-solving abilities. You will work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality services.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and consult with applicants and tenants with complex social and healthcare needs or behavioral problems
- Develop and deliver training programs for staff and clients
- Liaise with external agencies and service providers to coordinate referrals and ensure comprehensive support
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to provide holistic services
- Conduct home visits, provide crisis intervention, and initiate referrals as needed
- Maintain accurate records and reports within established timeframes
Requirements and Qualifications
- Degree from a recognized program for Registered Nurses or Registered Psychiatric Nurses
- Eligible to practice nursing in British Columbia as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN)
- Extensive experience working with individuals with psychiatric disorders and complex social and/or healthcare needs or behavioral issues in a community setting
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Familiarity with psychosocial rehabilitation principles, substance abuse treatment programs, and community health resources
